Senior Research Scientist

Iffat Parveen

I am a Plant Molecular Biologist working on identification of botanicals using DNA markers and isolation and characterization of different plant proteins using various proteomic techniques.

Research Interests

Dr. Parveen’s research interest includes identification and characterizing the enzymes from different secondary metabolite pathways using genomic, molecular and biochemical approaches, authentication of botanicals and medicinal plants using different DNA-based molecular markers and isolation and characterization of plant proteins using various proteomic techniques.

Biography

Dr. Iffat Parveen received her B.Sc. (honors) Botany in 2003 and a M.Sc. in Botany in 2005 from University of Delhi, Delhi, India. She completed her Ph.D. in 2012 from Department of Botany, University of Delhi, Delhi, India. She did her postdoctoral studies at University of Mississippi, Oxford, USA. She began with the Univ. of MS in February, 2018 as a Research Scientist and promoted as Senior Research Scientist at the National Center for Natural Products Research (NCNPR) in July 2024.
