Biography
Josimar Külkamp is a Brazilian botanist and researcher specializing in plant taxonomy, systematics, and conservation, with a particular focus on the Euphorbiaceae family. He holds a PhD in Botany from the Escola Nacional de Botânica Tropical (Jardim Botânico do Rio de Janeiro) in Brazil, where his research focused on the systematics and phylogeny of the Ditaxinae subtribe. His work has led to significant contributions in plant taxonomy, including the first comprehensive phylogenetic framework for Ditaxinae and new classifications within the Acalyphoideae subfamily.
Currently, Josimar is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the National Center for Natural Products Research. He has received several prestigious awards, including the Smithsonian Cuatrecasas Fellowship, International Association for Plant Taxonomy (IAPT) award, and the European Synthesys+ Award, and has published several scientific articles, books, book chapters, and Photographic Field Guides. He has supervised numerous students and contributed to various botanical projects and conservation efforts in South America. Additionally, contributes as a reviewer for renowned botanical journals and performs specimen validation for conservation status assessment.
