Biography
Kris Belden-Adams is an Associate Professor of Art History at the University of Mississippi, specialized in the
history of photography. She is the author of Photography, Temporality, Modernity: Time Warped (2019), and
Photography, Eugenics, ‘Aristogenics’: Picturing Privilege (2020). In addition, she is the editor and contributor to the volume Photography and Failure: One Medium’s Incessant Entanglement with Mishaps, Flops, and
Disappointments (2017), and the co-editor of ‘These Are Our Stories’: Diverse Histories, Narratives, and Identities in Photographic Albums (2022). With Dr. Karen Barber, Belden-Adams is a Content Co-Editor for
Smarthistory’s/Khan Academy’s coverage on the history of photography.
