Dr. Bethany LaValley designs and facilitates STEM professional development opportunities for in-service K-12 teachers and serves as the Statistics and Data Science Lead (Co-PI) for the NSF STEM Teacher Corps Pilot Program: Mississippi STEM Education Alliance.

Biography

Dr. LaValley earned a Ph.D. in Secondary Education, with a specialization in Mathematics, from the University of Mississippi in 2023. Before joining the CMSE staff in 2024, she served as a CMSE Graduate Research Fellow during both her Ph.D. and M.A. in Curriculum & Instruction (2014) programs. Dr. LaValley began her career at Ole Miss in 2004, working in departmental office administrative support positions while earning a BA in English (2010) through the UM Staff Scholarship program. She stepped away from UM in 2012 to pursue a career in teaching and mathematics education. She has taught mathematics at the upper elementary, middle, and high school levels.
