Liz Williamson

Liz offers broad experience in training, organizational development, communication and process improvement. Her knowledge in areas such as curriculum development, project management, and emotional intelligence help her facilitate cross-functional efforts that produce meaningful results for the campus community. Her work experience has provided Liz with multiple opportunities to deliver high-quality results for various business and education sectors. Liz's work style is thoughtful and process driven. Complex problems and solutions-based projects are her favorite types of challenges. She operates from positions of curiosity, respect, and support when collaborating on projects. Biography

In her role as the Education and Training Specialist in the Office for Research and Economic Development (ORED), Liz is responsible for creating and managing training content that supports securing funding and the successful management of research projects. In collaboration with ORED leadership and staff, and internal and external partners, she streamlines and distills complex information to enhance insight and increase impact for the UM researchers.

Liz works closely with the ORED Vice Chancellor to implement key aspects of the office’s strategic vision, including overseeing the 2025 ORED website restructuring. She also supports initiatives to improve the researcher experience, such as creating visualizations of research processes, producing numerous training courses, assisting in capturing workflows, and analyzing operational systems. Liz manages some of ORED's vendor relationships and performs various other tasks including authoring the ORED Connect newsletter. Her contributions are a key element in the office’s communication efforts.

Before joining the University in 2023, Liz held roles in organizational development, training, and training management within large corporations. She began her career as a public school teacher, later transitioning to the Mississippi Department of Education, where she ultimately served as State Director for the Mississippi-School-to-Careers grant.
