Melissa Bass is associate professor of Public Policy Leadership and the department's undergraduate coordinator.
Research Interests
Melissa Bass' research has focused on the development of U.S. social policies over time and their effects on civic engagement. Her book, The Politics and Civics of National Service: Lessons from the CCC, VISTA, and AmeriCorps, was published by the Brookings Institution.
Biography
Melissa Bass has a master's degree in public affairs from the University of Minnesota and a Ph.D. in political science from Brandeis University, where her training focused on American politics and public policy. Her teaching focuses on U.S. social policies, including K-12 education and health policy, and policy analysis. She also teaches courses for the Sally McDonald Barksdale Honors College, advises students writing their honors theses, and oversees the PPL department's academic advising and internship for credit program.
