I am an associate professor in psychology. I teach courses in statistics and sensation and perception.
Research Interests
My research interests are in psychophysical methods, with a focus on adaptive testing. I also study low-level visual perception (texture, motion) and develop quantitative models of the mechanisms involved.
Biography
Dr. Prins grew up in the Netherlands, where he received his BA in Psychology from Leiden University. Subsequently, he attended graduate school at the University of Kansas where he received a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology and took up postdoctoral positions in Melbourne, Australia and Montreal, Canada before joining the Psychology faculty at the University of Mississippi. Dr. Prins is an expert in psychophysical research methods and is regularly asked to consult with researchers in academics, government, and industry on best research practices, especially with regard to measurement of sensory and perceptual abilities.
