Biography
A long-time resident of Oxford, Saundra Bishop maintains an active
collaborative piano schedule largely in the north Mississippi area. For over
20 years, she was on the faculty at Northwest Mississippi Community
College. There, in addition to working as collaborative pianist, she taught
piano and music theory courses, directed the pop a cappella vocal
ensemble, and was music director for numerous musical theatre
productions. Saundra also taught general music and choir for several years
at the elementary and middle school levels.
Saundra holds degrees in piano performance from the University of
Alabama and Louisiana State University and the doctor of arts degree in
piano pedagogy from the University of Mississippi. She also studied
chamber music and piano at the University of Southern Mississippi while
pursuing a bachelor of science degree in paralegal studies. Currently, she
serves as the music associate and pianist for First Baptist Church in
Oxford, performs regularly with the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra
in Tupelo, and co-directs the Coro Rio Oxford Children’s Choir
