Biography

 

Stella Connell is the Manager of Marketing and Communications for the Ole Miss Business School. She directs a full-service communications program, including all the marketing and branding efforts for the school. Connell leads the development and dissemination of all collateral materials and oversees all communications platforms in traditional, digital and social media. She directed the school’s centennial campaign by re-launching the school’s magazine “BusinessFirst;” edited a 200-page illustrated book, “Ole Miss Business: The First 100 Years,” and wrote and directed a 20-minute feature film of the school’s history since its inception in 1917.

Prior to her role with the Ole Miss Business School, Connell lived in New York City for almost two decades, working in the book publishing industry as an agent and a publicist. She received both B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Alabama and completed the Radcliffe Publishing Course at Harvard University, where she was one of two scholarship recipients. She has worked with Pulitzer prize-winning authors such as Michael Chabon, Junot Diaz, and David Halberstam as well as other well-known writers such as John Grisham, Caroline Kennedy, Lee Smith and Clyde Edgerton. Connell has lectured and served as a panelist at many writing conferences such as the College of William and Mary, the University of Florida, New York University, Virginia Commonwealth University, the Southern Festival of Books, the North Carolina Conference on the Book, and the Oxford Conference on the Book.
