Biography

Stacey Smith, returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Poland V), received her BA degree in Political Science with a minor in History from Winthrop College in Rock Hill, S.C., and her Master’s in Southern Studies from the University of Mississippi. During her career she has worked as a museum professional and a teacher. She worked as a museum registrar in the following museums: Columbia Museum of Art, Columbia, SC; Biltmore Estate, Asheville, NC; Gibbes Museum of Art, Charleston, SC; and the University Museum and Historic Houses at the University of Mississippi. Additionally, she has been a teacher of ESL in the Peace Corps, for Charleston County and for Continuing Education at the University of Mississippi as well as a FASTrack EDHE Instructor from 2016 to 2020 for the University of Mississippi.

She serves as Assistant to the Dean for The College of Liberal Arts. Working with Dean Lee Cohen and Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs Don Dyer, she manages their calendars and travel, and assists with tenure and promotion, sabbatical leave, Quadrennial Review, Academic Program Review, Chancellor’s Standing Committees, Faculty Annual Review, IREP Cycle A&B and Post Tenure Review documentation, as well as teaching awards for the College. Additionally, she organizes yearly workshops to welcome new faculty, new chairs, and directors to the College, directs the student workers for Ventress Hall, and assists visitors to the building, including students and the public. She is a Coordinated Community Resource Team Committee Member (March 2017 to present) as well as a member of the Financial Aid Undergraduate Scholarship Application Selection Committee for the College of Liberal Arts (2020 to present).
