Shannon Baker Richardson

Biography

Dr. Shannon Richardson serves at the Assistant Director for the William Magee Center for AOD and Wellness Education. Dr. Richardson has enjoyed twenty-four years of experience in the Student Affairs profession. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of North Georgia, a Master of Public Administration degree in Administration & Finance from Georgia State University, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Higher Education from the University of Mississippi.

Dr. Richardson served as Assistant Director of Campus Recreation at the University of Mississippi from 2004-2023.  She transitioned to the role of Assistant Director of Wellness Education in July 2023. Her research interests include crisis management within student affairs and inclusive wellness programs for the university community.

Dr. Richardson is also an Instructional Assistant Professor of Higher Education and an adjunct faculty member within the Department of Health, Exercise Science, and Recreation Management. Dr. Richardson resides in Oxford with her husband Hunter, their daughters Emma and Meg, and their service dog Connor. She enjoys trail running, exploring the great outdoors, and being a soccer mom. Dr. Richardson is a member of Grace Bible Church and the chairperson for Oxford Night to Shine.
