Dr. Samuel Lisi is an Associate Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Mississippi.
Research Interests
Dr. Lisi has been with the university since 2014 and does research in symplectic topology and conservative dynamics.
He is also interested in:
- The relationship between topology and dynamical systems as mediated by Floer homology and other related symplectic invariants.
- J-holomorphic curves in non-compact symplectic manifolds, notably in symplectizations of contact manifolds.
- Computational topology tools (such as persistent homology) applied in these settings.
Biography
Dr. Sam Lisi obtained his PhD from the Courant Institute (NYU) in 2006, under the supervision of Helmut Hofer. He then had postdoctoral fellowships at the Université de Montréal (supervised by O. Cornéa and F. Lalonde), Stanford University (supervised by Y. Eliashberg), the Université Libre de Bruxelles (supervised by F. Bourgeois), and the Université de Nantes (supervised by V. Colin).
Dr. Lisi was hired at the University of Mississippi in 2014, and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2020. He was awarded an NSF EPSCoR RII Track 4 grant in 2020.
