Timera works with students in Bolivar, Coahoma, Desoto, Grenada, Leflore, Panola, Quitman, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, and Tunica counties in Mississippi.
Biography
When I transferred to Ole Miss in the fall of 2016, I knew very little about the history of the campus. I heard James Meredith’s story from several students and passed his statue on my way to class and work but never realized or truly appreciated the impact that he made in 1962 when he became the first African American student to be admitted to the University of Mississippi. It was not until 2017 when I had the honor of meeting Mr. Meredith and his wife that I realized the significance of his contribution to the university. It was because of him that so many students, including myself, were given the amazing opportunity to attend Ole Miss. From the Center for Inclusion and Cross-Cultural Engagement to the addition of our Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Community Engagement and many other resources, we are able to carry on Mr. Meredith’s legacy. 56 years later, Ole Miss is continuing to make strides to ensure that every student feels welcome and given the opportunity to experience what makes our campus so special.
