Dr. Menzel is an Instructional Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology. His main focus is teaching undergraduate biology courses, but he is also a member of the Graduate Faculty and engages in some ecological research with his students.
Research Interests
Dr. Menzel's research focus is on ecology. His specialty is in insect ecology, but he has also engaged in project involving birds, plants and other organisms. His specific areas of interest within ecology include species distribution patterns and interspecific interactions.
Biography
Dr. Menzel holds degrees in Political Science, Biology, and Agricultural Life Sciences (Entomology). He worked at UM in the National Center for Physical Acoustics from 2006-2008 as a research scientist studying insect acoustics. He has taught biology to undergraduate students and led them in research projects for over 16 years. Dr. Menzel returned to UM in 2023 as an Instructional Assistant Professor.
