Biography

Dr. Dedmon-Woods is the Assistant Director of the Office of National Scholarship Advisement where she guides undergraduate and graduate students through the nationally competitive scholarship and fellowship application process. With a background in education, career advising, and student affairs, Dr. Dedmon-Woods has extensive experience teaching career and life planning courses, mentoring students, and designing programs that support academic and professional success. Her research interests focus broadly on equitable student access and success within higher education. She works to bridge advising, policy, and research to enhance student success and expand access to transformative educational opportunities. Using qualitative research methods, Dr. Dedmon-Woods is particularly interested in exploring how nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships are a pathway for opportunity as well as how advising practices, institutional policies, and application processes shape student outcomes. Her work explores effective advising models, career decision-making processes, and policy implementation to better understand and improve how institutions support students in achieving academic and professional goals.
