Biography
Dr. Yasmine Sedeek is an experienced Arabic instructor with over eight years of teaching at the University of Mississippi. She holds a Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) with a thesis emphasis on second language acquisition, phonology, and sociolinguistics. Dr. Sedeek later earned her PhD from the same institution, focusing on teaching Arabic pronunciation to American learners.
Her teaching philosophy centers on fostering a love for the Arabic language while engaging students in its rich culture. Dr. Sedeek prioritizes helping students develop accurate pronunciation and actively supports them as a mentor throughout their learning journey. She also enjoys participating in activities inside and outside the classroom, creating a dynamic and immersive learning environment for her students.
Dr. Yasmine is honored to be the first Arabic teacher in the state of Mississippi, serving the Oxford School District, where she now teaches Arabic at the high school level. Additionally, she teaches Arabic in the Summer Language Institute as part of the pre-college program, extending her passion for language instruction to younger learners.
