About this Program

The Master of Science in Sport Analytics is an online program that integrates academic, practical, and research skills, enabling students to master sport business analytics with a focus on data acquisition, statistical modeling, predictive analytics, big data, and visualization techniques for effective application in the field.

The MS in Sport Analytics provides two online options:

  1. Sport Business
  2. Sport Performance

Through an accelerated 8-week courses, students can complete the online program within one year.

  • Graduates of the online sport analytics degree are prepared for analytical roles in collegiate and professional sports, as well as various sport-related industries like sports marketing, media, sports betting, sport science, and human performance.

    Program Requirements and Application Process

    Choosing the right graduate program can be difficult enough, so getting the application right shouldn't add to your stress. We've gathered all the info you need to apply to the Master of Science in Sport Analytics to make things as easy as possible.

    Students that want to apply to the sport analytics degree can submit applications on an rolling basis, but the final deadline is one month before the start of the desired term.

    Applying students must submit the following for consideration:  

    • Completed application to the University of Mississippi Graduate School
    • Evidence of an awarded baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
    • Academic record with cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.0 or equivalent grade point average on a 4.0 scale in the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework
    • GRE taken within 5 years of applying for the graduate program with scores equal to or greater than the following
      • 146 on the verbal
      • 140 on the quantitative
      • 3.0 on writing sections of the test.
    • Resume or curriculum vitae
    • A 400‐ to 500‐word statement of interest describing interest in pursuing the MSSA degree, as well as the student's desired emphasis, future career goals, and why the applicant believes they will be successful in graduate school.

    The GRE requirement is waived for applicants who have:

    • At least 1 year of post/secondary professional work experience related to sport performance, business, and/or analytics
    • A letter of recommendation

    Students must take the SA 511: Applied Statistics course at the beginning of their program.

    Courses will be offered in eight‐week terms on an annual rotational basis. Since there are no prerequisites for any course, learners can enter the program at any one of the five terms throughout the academic calendar year.

    • Part‐time progression is an option; however, all learners will be encouraged to complete the degree within two years of enrollment.

    To accommodate for rolling admission, *SA 511 will be offered every semester, and **SA 693 will be made available during any semester should a student need it outside of the summer term.
