We want to make sure you and your student are informed and ready to tackle academia whilst making the most of your available resources.
Resources for You
Check back here as often as you like. The most up-to-date information can always be found here.
This letter from our Director is just for you, and should help you to better understand VMS and our role in your child's future.
VA education benefits vary in how they're paid and how much they pay. Make sure to stay up-to-date on which benefit is best for you and your student.
You can check out this page from the VA website. It should help you discern which benefits you or your student may have and which might be right for you.

We've also prepared a chart that may help you to understand the differences.
Ole Miss In-State Tuition Policy for Non-Resident Students is as follows:
- In-State Tuition While Using VA Education Benefits: Non-Resident students who use VA Education Benefits at Ole Miss will receive a scholarship to cover the full non-resident fee so that the student is only responsible for paying the in-state tuition rate for as long as they are actively using their benefits.
- Exhausted VA Education Benefits: A student who has used at least one (1) month of VA Education Benefits here at Ole Miss and later exhausts benefit entitlements will continue to receive the Non-Resident Scholarship as long as they remain continuously enrolled for every FALL and SPRING semester. This applies to:
- Students pursuing an undergraduate degree
- Students pursuing a graduate degree
- Students transitioning directly from an undergraduate program here at Ole Miss to a graduate program at Ole Miss with no break in enrollment
*Note* Since many of the graduate programs differ in length, it may be beneficial to contact the Financial Aid office at finaid@olemiss.edu or by calling 800-891-4596 to ensure they will cover the entirety of the program.
Quick FAQ
Our office is in the George Street House on the Oxford Campus. You are always welcome to come by during business hours and have a chat. Most questions should be answered at orientation, which you are also welcome to attend.
If you prefer, you can call 662-915-2045 or email veterans@olemiss.edu. You should know, however, that due to privacy laws we may be unable to answer specific questions regarding your student if they are not present to give consent. In most cases, it is easier for the student to get the answers they need by visiting our office in person.
Currently, it is only possible to transfer CH33 Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits. This VA web page should explain how to transfer those benefits to your dependent or make changes:
Not at the same time. The student must elect which benefit they would like to use and can only use one benefit type at a time.
As you have a 100% rating, your dependent most likely has access to CH35 Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance. If you've transferred CH33 benefits as well, then the student will have to pick one of the two. You can review the information listed under "VA Education Benefit Comparison" above to find out which benefit makes more sense for you and your student.
