About the Faculty Senate
The Faculty Senate serves as the representative voice of the University of Mississippi’s faculty, advises the Chancellor and Academic Council on matters that affect the University’s mission, operations, and academic environment, and keeps the General Faculty informed about its discussions and recommendations.
Members are elected by their peers from departments across the College of Liberal Arts and the Schools of Accountancy, Applied Sciences, Business, Education, Engineering, Law, Pharmacy, Journalism and New Media, and the University Libraries, with larger units receiving additional seats for balanced representation.
Through this structure, the Senate ensures that faculty perspectives from every corner of campus are heard and considered in the university’s decision-making process.
