Flagship Scholars
The mission of Flagship Scholars is to increase the enrollment and retention of students from rural Mississippi communities.
What is Flagship Scholars?
The University of Mississippi's Flagship Scholars Program, launched in Spring 2023, is dedicated to increasing the enrollment and retention of students from all rural Mississippi communities.
Access Starts Here
Flagship Scholars offers intentional, engaging experiences that provide information for parents, families, counselors, community members, and prospective students about the resources, scholarships, and pathways available at the university. This includes, but is not limited to, information on financial aid and scholarships, admissions, cultural awareness, and major exploration.
Prospective students and their families are also invited to experience campus firsthand through a comprehensive campus visit. These visits include personalized one-on-one meetings with academic advisors in your intended program or major, giving you the opportunity to explore academic pathways, campus resources, and student life. Each visit is thoughtfully designed to support a smooth and confident transition from high school to college.
Building Community, Connection, and Success
In partnership with the Division of Outreach, Flagship Scholars are awarded the opportunity to participate in the JumpStart Opportunity Program. This creates another touchpoint for Flagship Scholars, allowing them to continue building community and connecting with the university.
Flagship Scholars benefit from a holistic, supportive structure that includes:
- Endless networking and community-building opportunities
- Structured mentorship from university staff and peers
- Partnerships with campus and community organizations
- Funding for Engaged Learning Opportunities (ELOs)
- A book stipend to ease your academic expenses
- and so much more!
