About the Lab

The Exercise, Nutrition, and Performance Lab (ENPL) is directed towards investigations examining a wide range of subjects within exercise physiology from mechanistic to applied concepts including exercise energy metabolism, nutritional supplementation, applied technology, HrV, sport performance, resistance training, cardiovascular training, and perceptual scales.

The lab also examines the new realm of Esports including the physiological response, demands, exercise interventions, and overall health of the Esport competitor.

Meet the Director

Thomas Andre, Ph.D., CISSN received his Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Exercise Nutrition, and Health Promotion from Baylor University working within the Exercise and Biochemical Nutrition Laboratory conducting research focusing on the biochemical and molecular regulatory mechanisms regarding exercise, hydration, performance, and nutrition. In addition to these areas since arriving at Ole Miss his lab has been examining the physiological responses to Esports is also part of the Ole Miss Esports Advisory and Development Committee.

Our Researchers in Action

Student researcher, Gunner Rhoden, tries on some new technology at the 2019 Tech Summit. The Tech Summit brought together leaders from government, business, and higher education to explore trends in technology and to stimulate discussions about technology-related needs in industry and education.

Student researchers, Gunner Rhoden and Silvio Valladao, speak at the 2019 Tech Summit at the Ford Center. The Tech Summit brought together leaders from government, business, and higher education to explore trends in technology and to stimulate discussions about technology-related needs in industry and education.

Dr. Andre studies two students as they compete in Esports, observing the physiological response, demands, exercise interventions, and overall health of the Esport competitors.
