The Mississippi Geographic Alliance works to improve geographic literacy across Mississippi by providing high-quality geography education resources and services for K–12 students and educators, civic leaders, policymakers, and the general public.

Improving Geographic Literacy

The Mississippi Geographic Alliance (MGA) is a geography education program located at the University of Mississippi. MGA strives to improve geographic literacy in Mississippi by supporting K–12 educators, promoting effective geography instruction in the classroom, and providing educational resources and opportunities that help students better understand the world around them.

About the MGA

The Mississippi Geographic Alliance (MGA) helps Mississippians increase awareness of geography with physicals interaction of the world by promoting geographic literacy through educational services. We support civic leaders and policymakers, offer unique student outreach programs, and provide professional development for K-12 educators. Based at the University of Mississippi, MGA works statewide to assist educators in preparing students to embrace a diverse world, succeed in the global economy, and steward the planet’s resources.

The University of Mississippi has partnered with National Geographic Society since 2006 as the state institutional home of the Mississippi Geographic Alliance.
