Services to Help You Meet Accessibility Standards

UM Digital Accessibility provides the following services to support the creation and maintenance of accessible digital content at the University of Mississippi.

UM Digital accessibility provides captioning assistance for both live and pre-recorded video. Captioning is required for any video posted on a UM website or social media account and for all videos used as part of course content, whether it is shown in class or posted in Blackboard.

We can work with anyone on campus to caption videos for course content, event videos, or videos posted on websites or social media platforms. Contact us at accessibility@olemiss.edu for help with captioning.

Live captioning is recommended as a proactive accessibility feature for campus events. UM Accessibility provides a live captioning service through our third-party captioning vendor, Verbit. It is available for any event hosted by Ole Miss faculty, staff, or students and is recommended for larger events where the access needs of all attendees are not known. Requests for event live captioning can be submitted through the Event Accessibility Request Form.

Because of the complexity of remediating existing PDF documents, UM Digital Accessibility provides direct document remediation services to individuals and departments for non-academic content that is posted on or linked from the university website. We can also work with you to ensure that your event promotional materials are accessible before posting them widely.

Please contact us at accessibility@olemiss.edu with any important information, such as deadlines or the expected use for the documents. We will also need a Box or Google Drive link that provides editing access. We will follow up with the expected delivery date for the accessible versions of the documents.

Consultations can be on a one-time and ongoing basis, covering the topics of event accessibility, document accessibility, website accessibility, social media accessibility, and accessibility in Blackboard.

Email jbland@olemiss.edu or accessibility@olemiss.edu to request consultation services.
