Banner by Ellucian provides persona-driven interactions tailored to every area of the institution, offering a modern and intuitive user experience that prepares students for the future. Its curated processes and workflows, designed specifically for higher education, help drive successful outcomes. Additionally, Banner delivers actionable insights through integrated data, enabling institutions to accelerate decision-making and achieve results more efficiently.

Experience Launches March 16

Experience launches March 16* as the new student hub. Students will register for Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 classes in Banner through Experience, with updated Priority Registration beginning April 13.* Encompass will continue sharing information and resources to support faculty and staff during this transition. *These dates have been adjusted following the impacts of Winter Storm Fern.

An Ecosystem of Tools

Banner is more than a single system—it’s a modern ecosystem of connected tools that will go live in phases between now and Fall 2026. Together, these tools will transform how we manage student information and deliver services across campus.

 

Explore the key components that make up our new student information system:

Banner is UM’s new student information system (SIS). It brings together a suite of integrated tools to create a more modern, efficient experience for students, faculty, and staff. The full, initial version (MVP) will be live by Fall 2026.

This is the user-facing homepage of Banner, organized by customizable Cards based on your role and tasks. It makes it easier to find what you need—fast.

Manages key student data, including academic records, registration, financial aid, and faculty assignments.

An academic advising platform that provides a dashboard view of student performance, helping advisors identify students who may need additional support.

A degree auditing tool that tracks progress toward degree completion. It supports prerequisite checks, GPA tracking, and transfer credit evaluation.

A document management system that integrates with Banner to provide fast, organized access to electronic records.

A reporting and analytics platform that brings together data from both Ellucian systems (like Banner) and non-Ellucian platforms (like Workday).

An online platform that connects students with scholarship opportunities, both internal (awarded by their institution) and external (offered by outside organizations). It streamlines the scholarship search process by matching students with relevant scholarships based on their profile information.
