IT Labs and Media are maintained by the Department of Technology Services. Whether providing services to students, faculty, or staff, we aim to provide technology and support services that help you be productive in your academic goals.

IT Labs is maintained by the Department of Technology Services. Our goal is to provide students, faculty, and staff with a productive workspace equipped with computers, printers, and software that allow you to be the best scholar you can be. Whether you're taking or teaching classes, our job is to ensure you have tech that's easy to use and readily accessible.

About the Galtney Center for Academic Computing

Located in 114 Weir Hall, the Galtney Center for Academic Computing is our main computer lab maintained by the Office of Information Technology.

At the Galtney Center, patrons have access to:

  • More than 40 computer workstations, including PCs and Macs. Each computer is loaded with the following software so you can do everything needed for your classes.
  • Three laser printers, including two black-and-white laser printers and one color laser printer. Learn more about printing below!
  • Three additional labs/rooms that can be reserved. Perfect for if you're in need of an independent workspace, collaborative space for groups, and everything in between. To see calendars and reserve a room, see below!
  • Other facilities include workstations equipped with flatbed scanners, a group study table capable of seating six, with a 50" LCD television and laptop / iPad connections, and several study areas with tables, chairs and a dry-erase board.

Need to print?

The Galtney Center for Academic Computing offers three laser printers available for use:

  • 1 - HP Color LaserJet CP4005
  • 2 - HP LaserJet M605 B/W 

The printing costs are as follows:

  • Black-and-white (print/copy) = $0.10 per page
  • Color (print) = $0.50 per page.

You can release your job using your WebID, which will apply printing charges to your Bursar account. The release station will display the number of pages, cost, and your current balance before printing.

Yes! Students can login to https://mobileprint.it.olemiss.edu using their WebID and upload documents from their own computer into the print queue.
  • Once a document is uploaded, you can visit the release station location that is most convenient for you.
  • You are responsible for knowing what each individual lab charges for printing, as the price varies.
  • Your bursar account will not be charged until you release the document from a release station.
  • Any document that you upload will remain in the print queue for 24 hours.

 MobilePrint has a mobile app called Pharos Print (iOS | Android) that allows you to print documents from your mobile device.

  • Server Port: 443
  • Click Connect and then login with your WebID.

Weir 104

Weir 104 is a Mac Teaching Lab for teaching/training purposes and has a seating capacity of 15 people. This room may be reserved by Faculty/Staff only. Student organizations are welcome to book this room with a Faculty Advisor.

Weir 107 is a PC Teaching Lab for teaching/training purposes and has a seating capacity of 18 people. This room may be reserved by Faculty/Staff only. Student organizations are welcome to book this room with a Faculty Advisor.

Weir 115

Weir 115 is a small conference room/study area and has a seating capacity of 10 people. This room is available for all students, faculty, and staff to reserve.

IT Media is maintained by the Department of Technology Services. The purpose of IT Media is to provide UM faculty and staff with convenient access to current and well-functioning equipment for use in their professional endeavors. Examples of equipment available through IT Media are LCD projectors, laptops, and more.

The IT Labs Student Consultant is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the student lab. This includes monitoring the lab and providing assistance to lab patrons.
The IT Media Student Consultant is responsible for delivery and setup of multimedia and computer equipment reserved by instructors and staff, and support for that equipment.
The Classroom Technology Student Consultant is responsible for providing front-line technical support for Classroom Technology on campus.
