FASTrack Learning Community

WHAT WE DO

We provide a strong foundation for academic success at Ole Miss by helping first-year students build campus connections through linked classes, one-on-one mentoring, living-learning residences, co-curricular programs, and student leadership opportunities.

FASTrack—Foundations of Academic Success Track

FASTrack Learning Community provides a strong foundation for academic success by easing student transitions into The University of Mississippi. We help first-year students build campus connections through linked classes and one-on-one mentoring with additional options such as our living-learning residence hall, co-curricular programs, and student leadership opportunities.

Our program is designed for students to receive access to resources, support, and experiences to help transition smoothly into college life. We help first-year students build meaningful campus connections that last beyond their first year.

With smaller classes, carefully selected professors, a close-knit community, and supportive mentors, students are set up to maximize their college experience and achieve their best results—even students who excelled in high school can benefit from FASTrack.

College presents new challenges, and having a strong support system in place ensures students are prepared for whatever comes their way.

Why join FASTrack?

Relationships matter — people can have a greater impact on student success than even programs or classes. As a FASTrack student you will have access to resources that build relationships from day 1.

Advising

Academic Advising is a collaborative educational process to ensure students meet academic, personal and career goals. You and your advisor will develop a partnership during your first year at Ole Miss.

Cohorted Classes

FASTrack students are placed into cohorts. Each cohort takes 3 linked classes together during the fall semester. Additionally, FASTrack students will take general education and major course requirements to maintain full time schedules. Core classes of less than 20 students are established to help students connect quickly to create a sense of community within their academic setting. This allows students to form informal study groups, work on class projects, and meet friends!

Living-Learning Community

When students choose to be a part of our optional FASTrack Living Learning Community they get additional interaction with other FASTrack students and added social programs or community events all within the comfort of their own contemporary residence hall, located just across the street from the main FASTrack office!

Academic Mentors

We provide your student with a network of mentors who deeply care about their academic success. Our team of mentors can assist your student with anything they may need—whether that is pointing them in the right direction, providing resources, or even just being a listening ear. More than just advisors, academic mentors become long-term allies in a student’s academic journey.
