About Athletic Training
Athletic trainers specialize in preventing, diagnosing, and treating muscle and bone injuries and illnesses among athletes. They work in collaboration with a physician in health clinics, fitness centers, high schools and colleges/universities, military, and professional sports programs. As more attention is placed on long-term safety of athletes and the burden of sports injuries, particularly in high schools, the athletic training field is expected to grow quickly. They are educated and trained in a wide variety of injury and illness prevention and treatment strategies focused on optimizing health to improve a person’s quality of life.
