STEM Learning Starts Here
The Jim and Thomas Duff Center for Science and Technology Innovation is the largest academic building on the University of Mississippi campus and a central hub for STEM education. Opened in fall 2024, the 202,000-square-foot facility brings together classrooms, teaching laboratories and collaborative spaces designed to support the way science and technology are taught today.
Technology-Enabled Active Learning Classrooms
With more than 50 tech infused classrooms, and laboratories. Including six state-of-the-art TEAL Labs with round-table layouts, shared displays, touch screen controls, and rooms wrapped with whiteboards to support collaborative problem solving while instructors move between groups to guide discussion and provide feedback.
Modern Teaching Laboratories
Laboratories throughout the building support coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, engineering and related disciplines. Equipped with advanced safety and ventilation systems, these spaces allow students to conduct experiments and explore scientific concepts through hands-on investigation.
Collaborative Spaces
Open atriums, group study rooms, and shared workspaces encourage collaboration and teamwork among students.

Private Study Rooms
The Duff Center has multiple group study rooms and small tutoring spaces throughout the building, all equipped with fully integrated video conferencing systems, flat screen TVs, whiteboards and ergonomic chairs for a comfortable, productive experience. These rooms are open for student use during regular operating hours, and reservable for official departmental use to host STEM related programming.

It is the largest academic building in the history of the University of Mississippi’s main campus and its most environmentally friendly—it is 70% carbon neutral relative to similar buildings nationally."
