The NCTR uses different factors of organizational effectiveness to evaluate the center.

Measures of Organizational Effectiveness

This evidence will be used in annual internal evaluations, mid-cycle performance reviews, and external assessments to identify areas of strength, address inefficiencies, and ensure the center operates effectively in support of its mission and the university’s strategic goals.

  • Progress reports measuring achievement of stated goals and objectives from strategic and operational plans.
  • Key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with research, education, service, and outreach targets.
  • Annual reviews or strategic assessments by leadership and advisory boards.

  • Performance evaluations of leadership and key personnel.
  • Clarity and efficiency of organizational structure, as reflected in org charts, role descriptions, and decision-making processes.
  • Meeting frequency, participation, and follow-through by advisory or executive committees.

  • Staff and stakeholder surveys assessing internal communication, collaboration, and satisfaction.
  • Timeliness and effectiveness of cross-functional coordination (e.g., between research, operations, and outreach teams).
  • Documentation of workflows, policies, and procedures to ensure consistency and accountability.

  • Recruitment and retention rates for staff, faculty, and student positions.
  • Participation in professional development or training programs by center personnel.

  • Timely completion of projects and deliverables.
  • Service response times and quality indicators for internal and external partners.
  • Utilization of resources (e.g., space, equipment, funding) relative to output.

  • Partner and client feedback on quality, responsiveness, and collaboration.
  • Number and quality of active partnerships and interagency agreements.
  • Repeat engagement rates with external stakeholders.
