What We Offer
All currently enrolled students, including those at satellite campuses, can use counseling services if they are taking at least one credit hour. This includes non-degree seeking students.
Students must be 18 or older to receive services without parental consent. If under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign a release form before services can be provided.
Summer students are eligible for services if they were enrolled in the previous Spring and will be enrolled in the upcoming Fall semester.
University employees can access services through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP-MH).

We request that, when possible, you make an appointment. This allow us to serve you better — on your time. To schedule an appointment online. To Schedule an appointment via telephone, call 662-915-3784.
In the case of an emergency during office hours, walk-in services are provided at the University Counseling Center without an appointment Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Psychiatric Initial Appointment
The UCC’s psychiatric providers, including Psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, offer assessment and management of psychotropic medications for students.
To schedule your first appointment with a psychiatric provider, call the UCC at 662-915-3785 or use the search bar to look up “Psych” or “1st” to view available dates and times. If no appointments are available online, please contact the UCC front desk directly.
A one-time $10 fee will be charged for your initial psychiatric appointment, billed to your Bursar account. Follow-ups are free of cost.
Psychiatric Follow-Up Appointment
This appointment is for students who have already completed a Psychiatric Initial Appointment.
Follow-up appointments typically last 30 minutes with your assigned psychiatric provider. You can search for available appointments by entering “Psych,” “Recheck,” or your provider’s name in the search bar.
If you’re unsure of your current provider’s name, refer to the staff tab for a complete list of psychiatric staff members.
A 24/7 crisis helpline is also available by calling 662-915-3784.
Licensed counselors are ready to assist with complete confidentiality, and services are provided at no cost to students.
Group therapy provides a safe, supportive, and confidential environment where students can feel understood, supported, and encouraged by their peers. These sessions are free for currently enrolled students, held weekly for 60 to 90 minutes, and include up to 10 participants. Each group is facilitated by clinical staff members. The UCC offers a variety of group therapy options based on the unique needs and interests of University students.
The Employee Assistance-Mental Health Program (EAP-MH) is a confidential service available to all university administration, faculty, and staff.
EAP-MH offers short-term consultation for employees facing work or life challenges who may benefit from individual counseling. Common issues include work-related stress, interpersonal difficulties, or productivity barriers.
The program includes four sessions structured as follows:
- The first session is free.
- The remaining three sessions are $30 each.
- A $50 fee applies for cancellations or no-shows.
Sessions are paid via payroll deduction and can be renewed annually on a calendar-year basis (January-December).

The University Counseling Center (UCC) offers scheduled New Client and Individual Counseling sessions at various embedded offices across campus to improve access to mental health support.
All embedded office appointments require booking in advance, along with completion of initial and follow-up paperwork prior to the session.
Current embedded locations include:
- George Street House for Veterans & Military Services (Counselor: Tina Kepner)
- Graduate House for graduate students (Counselor: Caelyn Ditz)
- William Magee Center for AOD and Wellness Education (Counselor: April Hammons)
- School of Pharmacy (Counselor: Carissa Chandler)
During your face-to-face New Client appointment, you will:
- Discuss your concerns
- Set therapeutic goals with the counselor
- Review recommended supports and follow-up therapy options
- Schedule additional sessions if needed
Regional Counseling
Students and faculty both are encouraged to take advantage of the Universities convenient telehealth services. Appointments can be made by calling the University Counseling Center (UCC) office at 662-915-3784.
All students are welcome to take advantage of in-person services, including Psychiatric care, at our Oxford campus during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Summer Students:
Students who were enrolled in the previous Spring semester and are registered for the upcoming Fall semester are considered continuously enrolled and eligible for services during the summer.
University Employees:
All eligible employees of the University of Mississippi’s regional campuses can access counseling services through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP-MH).

Students will not incur charges for standard counseling sessions unless the student misses their appointment or arrives more than 15 minutes late. In these cases, a $50 charge will be assessed to the students Bursar account.
We respectfully ask that, if you are unable to attend your appointment, you call our offices to cancel with at least 24-hour advanced notice. If your appointment is canceled less than 2 hours before your appointment time, you will also incur a charge of $50 to your Bursar account.
University Staff will incur similar charges via payroll deductions for late cancellations and missed appointments.
