A Letter from the NPHC President

Greetings, and welcome to the National Pan-Hellenic Council at the University of Mississippi. I am so excited that you’re interested in joining our community!

NPHC, otherwise known as the Divine Nine, represents nine historically Black Greek-Letter Organizations founded on the principles of scholarship, service, and cultural uplift. At the university, these chapters have had a legacy that dates to the 1970s, when the first organizations were established by trailblazers who fought through the times.

Recently, our council proudly became officially incorporated with the National Pan-Hellenic Council headquarters in 2023, marking a historic milestone in our journey. Today, we are committed to continuing the legacy through four key pillars: Community Service, Academic Excellence, Professional Development, and Self and Cultural Expression.

Currently hosting all nine of the Divine Nine, we are one of three SEC campuses – and the only PWI in the state of Mississippi – to claim this honor. With no restrictions, you have the opportunity to explore all horizons and find the best organization for you to grow tremendously and add to the legacy of any of our chapters.

Exploring membership opportunities with one of our exceptional chapters begins by attending our Greek Forum, which is held at the beginning of each semester. During this event, you will hear from all nine chapters about their mission, values, and requirements for membership.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at (662) 915-7609 or email umsgreeks@olemiss.edu
