Refer-A-Friend Discount

$500 OFF OF TUITION

$250 for you AND $250 for your friend – when you bring a friend to the IEP at the University of Mississippi

Current, full-time IEP students who have been enrolled in the IEP for at least 1 semester AND who bring a family member or friend to study as a full-time IEP student will receive $250 off tuition for Intensive English (IE) classes during their family member/friend’s first session. In addition, the new full-time IEP student referred will also receive $250 off tuition for Intensive (IE) classes during their first session. That is a total savings of $500 for you and your friend!

Only current, full-time IEP students and new, full-time IEP students can receive the discounts, which are only valid for referred full-time IEP students. The discount is only valid for one semester.

There is no limit to how many friends a student can refer, but only one current student can receive the discount for each new student. The new student MUST indicate that they heard about the IEP program from the current student on the original application.

Funds are credited directly to the students’ tuition balances, and no money will be paid directly to students. Discounts must be used in the first semester that the new student is enrolled full-time. In addition, the total discount cannot exceed a student’s current tuition balance (fees excluded), nor can the discount be held to the next semester.

Alumni Referral Discount

$250 OFF ON TUITION

(when you are referred by IEP alumni)

New, full-time IEP students who are referred to the IEP by a family member or friend who is an alumnus* of the IEP will receive $250 off tuition for Intensive English (IE) classes during their first session.

Only new, full-time IEP students or IEP alumni returning after an absence of at least 12 months can receive the discount, which is only valid when the alumni referral is verified. The discount is only valid for one semester. The new student MUST indicate that they heard about the IEP program from the alumnus on the original application, providing both the given and family name of the alumnus.

Materials Scholarship

$250 PER SEMESTER

New and prospective full-time IEP students are eligible to apply for the Materials Scholarship. If awarded, the student will receive a scholarship valued at $250 to be applied to their “tuition and materials” balance, which will cover the cost of all textbooks for a semester.

In order to maintain eligibility, applicants must maintain passing grades during their studies in the IEP and complete a scholarship application each time they wish to have the scholarship renewed. There are up to 5 Materials Scholarships available each semester.

Funds are credited directly to the students’ tuition and materials fee balances, and no money will be paid directly to students. Scholarship must be used for the semester it was awarded; it cannot be held to the next semester.

The Brenda Hales Honorary Tuition Reduction Scholarship

20% OFF OF TUITION

(each semester you’re enrolled in the IEP)

To honor the teaching career of Brenda Hales, a former Intensive English Program instructor, the Intensive English Program at the University of Mississippi is pleased to announce a 20% tuition-only scholarship to prospective and current IEP students. There are up to 4 Tuition Reduction Scholarships available each semester.

For over a decade, the teaching career of Brenda Hales enriched the learning experience of international students at the University of Mississippi. Both inside and outside of the classroom, she touched the lives of students young and old. As much as she has always welcomed international students to the hospitality of her own home, she also welcomed them into a learning environment in which they gained confidence and felt valued. Whether with her pilot’s license or her passport, Brenda Hales has always been an intrepid traveler who inspires her former students and colleagues as both a lifetime learner and as a true citizen of the world.

New and prospective full-time IEP students are eligible to apply for this scholarship, and the scholarship is only valid for the semester following it being awarded (e.g., awarded in summer and valid for fall). Students must apply each semester for the Tuition Reduction Scholarship, which can be awarded each semester as long as the student is taking full-time Intensive English (IE) classes.

The Jonatas Lima Memorial Scholarship

FULL TUITION AND FEES

The Intensive English Program at the University of Mississippi is pleased and honored to announce the Jonatas Lima Memorial Scholarship, which will provide funding for one student, fully covering the tuition and fees* for up to two semesters.

The IEP recognizes the obstacle of paying for funding to study in the United States. A scholarship can help by permitting outstanding students to pursue their education. Recognizing this need, the IEP has established one full tuition scholarship for one student each academic year (fall-spring semesters).

The scholarship honors Jonatas Lima, who was an intelligent, helpful, and friendly student from Goiânia, Brazil.  He faced every challenge with an admirable level of strength, determination, and hopefulness, making him a shining example to everyone who knew him.  As a student in the University of Mississippi Intensive English Program, he was not only diligent, utilizing every opportunity to gain more knowledge, but he was also helpful and respectful to others no matter where they came from or how different their cultures were from his own.  He cherished his family, loved his friends, and welcomed everyone with a gracious smile.

New and prospective full-time IEP students are eligible to apply for this scholarship, and the scholarship is only valid for the semesters following it being awarded (e.g., awarded in summer and valid for fall-spring). In order to be eligible to receive the Jonatas Lima Memorial Scholarship, applicants must be at least 18 years old or have graduated high school, meet regular admissions requirements to the IEP, and submit a complete application to the IEP for a semester-length intensive program (including the application fee).

After being awarded the scholarship, recipients must maintain eligibility by: arriving on the University of Mississippi campus no later than the first day of classes in the semester for which the scholarship was awarded, maintaining an A average during studies in the IEP, and maintaining F1 status through full-time enrollment and regular attendance.

This scholarship is applicable to tuition and fees* only—no other expenses (e.g., housing, insurance, food) are covered by this scholarship. Funds are credited directly to the students’ tuition and fees balance, and no money will be paid directly to students. In addition, total scholarships cannot exceed a student’s current balance (fees excluded), nor can the scholarship be held to the next semester.

*Fees covered: International Fee, Capital Improvement Fee, Activity Fee
