Joey Rutherford

Associate Director of the Center for Research Evaluation

Joey Rutherford is currently the Associate Director of the Center for Research Evaluation. His responsibilities include preparing and submitting all grants for CERE, managing grant financials and the center's overall financial health, submitting CERE projects for IRB, and ensuring CERE follows all university, state, and federal policies.

Biography

Joey Rutherford is the Associate Director of CERE. He began his career at CERE in 2006 as a secretary before becoming Project Coordinator. In 2007, he became a Research Aid. In September of 2013, he was named Project Manager. In 2017, he became Assistant Director before being named Associate Director in 2019. In 2006, he received his B.A. in History and Philosophy from the University of Mississippi. He received his Master’s of Higher Education/Student Personnel degree from the University of Mississippi in Spring of 2015 and completed his Ph.D. in Higher Education/Student Personnel in December of 2021. He also graduated from the university’s Management and Administrative Seminars for Human Resources Program (MASH), Research Administration and Management Program (RAMP), and Lead Your Team (LEAD) programs. In 2023, he became a Certified Research Administrator (CRA). Joey is an avid sports fan of all Ole Miss sports and the Chicago Cubs. He and his wife Angela enjoy spending time with their daughter and son-in-law.
