Faculty Profile
Stacey Lynn Rathert
Brief Bio
Stacey Rathert is an artist originally from the way outs of Kansas, also known as the small farming community of Lancaster. Rathert received her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Science in Education in 2011 from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas. She then made an epic voyage to the south to receive her Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Mississippi, Oxford, in 2015. Currently Rathert is an instructor at the U of M in the sculpture and foundations department. Working in a variety of scale and material, she creates whimsical objects that are embellishments on the truth, relating to personal narrative and experiences of growing up on the farm. Rathert's artwork is also deeply rooted in process and material, pushing the limits and establishing new boundaries, especially in steel and cast iron.
