Dr. Wes Jennings is Gillespie Distinguished Scholar, Chair, and Professor of Criminal Justice & Legal Studies who has been internationally recognized as the #1 criminologist in the world in previous publications based on his publication productivity.

Research Interests

Dr. Jennings' research interests include: 

  • Quantitative Methods: Advanced analytical techniques such as trajectory analysis, meta-analysis, and regression analysis
  • Experimental and Quasi-Experimental Designs: Randomized-controlled trials, propensity score matching, time series analysis
  • Policing: Police use of force, technology, evidence-based policing
  • Narrative intelligence: AI-powered narrative intelligence methodologies and analysis

Biography

Dr. Wes Jennings is Gillespie Distinguished Scholar, Chair, and Professor of Criminal Justice & Legal Studies in the Department of Criminal Justice & Legal Studies at the University of Mississippi. He is also a Faculty Affiliate at the School of Law at the University of Mississippi. He received his PhD from the University of Florida.

He has over 275 publications, an h-index of 68 (i-index of 182), and over 15,000 citations to his published work. His major research interests are quantitative methods, experimental and quasi-experimental designs, policing, and narrative intelligence.

Dr. Jennings is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Society of Criminology, and a Lifetime Member of both the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences and the Southern Criminal Justice Association. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. Finally, he is a Past President of the Southern Criminal Justice Association.
