Captain Blake Gunn is an Assistant Professor of Naval Science at the University of Mississippi. He is the Marine Officer Instructor in the NROTC program.
Biography
Captain Blake A. Gunn received his B.A. in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Pomona College in Claremont, California, in 2018. He then graduated Officer Candidate School in March of 2020 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He graduated from The Basic School and the Infantry Officer Course in Quantico, Virginia.
During his first tour in the Fleet Marine Force, he served as a rifle Platoon Commander for Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment for a year and a half. During this time, he deployed on the 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit where he was involved in multiple training exercises with our foreign allies in the Baltic Sea. Upon his return from deployment, he served as the Combined Anti- Armor Team Platoon Commander and the Executive Officer for Weapons Company, leading the company through a long and difficult workup in preparation for their deployment to Okinawa. He left 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines in May of 2024 and subsequently checked into the University of Mississippi Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps.
