Biography
Dr. Bud Hamilton teaches strategy, HR, and entrepreneurship-related courses, primarily at the Ole Miss regional campuses. His major areas of research interest are (1) How human resources can be used strategically in the age of “Big Data” and analytics (2) the ethical implications of Big Data and entrepreneurial practices (3) how technology-related startups can gain competitive advantage. His most recent article is “Legal and Ethical Challenges for HR in Machine Learning” in the Employee Responsibilities and Rights Journal. Prior to Ole Miss, he taught at Georgia State University, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and the University of Georgia. Previously, he ran his own consulting firm, created the budget for a major urban mass transit agency, was a Congressional investigator evaluating technology deployment in federal agencies, and was an HR director for a non-profit media company. Hamilton received his Ph.D. from the University of Georgia, where his dissertation was on banking information systems outsourcing. Hamilton was the School of Business Teacher of the Year for undergraduate courses in 2008.
