Dr. Erica Montgomery is the program director for our practicum and internship experiences in the Leadership and Counselor Education (LCE) department as well as Clinic Director of the Clinic for Outreach and Personal Enrichment which serves as a training clinic for LCE.
Biography
Dr. Erica Montgomery received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Mississippi and is currently working as a Program Director for the University of Mississippi’s Counselor Education Department. A strong advocate for equity in mental health, she spends time training others in best practices for delivering mental health services to underserved populations. Her professional interests focus on using her extensive experience as a clinician to teach and supervise counselors in training and her current projects include outreach efforts to regional school districts to connect their students with much needed counseling services. Dr. Montgomery also offers youth mental health first aid training to school faculties across the state. In 2023 she was honored to receive the Outstanding Doctoral Student in Counselor Education Research award for her dissertation research in the field of mindfulness and the impact of mindfulness in reducing adolescent aggression. Dr. Montgomery currently serves as Clinic Director for the UM Clinic for Outreach and Personal Enrichment (COPE) a training clinic where the students are focused on providing free mental health services for residents of the state of Mississippi and service through outreach opportunities. Most recently she began the role of co-advising for the counseling honors society, Chi Sigma Iota.
