Melanie Burgess

Associate Professor of Leadership and Counselor Education

Dr. Melanie Burgess is an Associate Professor in the Counselor Education program at the University of Mississippi.

Biography

Dr. Burgess holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Old Dominion University, where she also earned her M.S.Ed. in School Counseling and B.S. in Psychology. As a scholar-practitioner, Dr. Burgess’s research focuses on school counselor training, clinical supervision, trauma-informed care, and equity in K–12 education. She has published qualitative and quantitative research peer-reviewed journals, presented at national and state conferences, and received over $2 million in federal a funding as a principal investigator. Dr. Burgess is an active member of professional counseling associations and actively mentors emerging scholars and practitioners in counselor education.
