Sport Management majors specialize in understanding all of the intricate details that go into making professional, college, and community sport and recreation possible—legal issues, facilities planning, operations management, the business of sports, sport marketing communications, sport economics and finance, and programming, just to name a few.

Our Sports and Recreation Administration degree programs are now the B.S. and M.S. in Sport Management. This change comes with new courses, new ways of thinking, and new opportunities.
Here are a few of the courses required for a Sport Management degree.

A survey course that explores and analyzes fundamental knowledge and skills of the sport management field, which are examined in more depth in later degree courses. Professional development is emphasized in this course, which includes a requirement that 40 hours of fieldwork be performed before the conclusion of the course.

Basic marketing concepts with applications to the uniqueness of the sport industry. Student participation and discussion will be emphasized. SM 211 cross-listed with SRA 311. A student cannot receive credit for both.

Application of principles for design and maintenance of physical and/or natural resources as a critical component of events and organizational effectiveness in sport. SM 225 cross-listed with SRA 425; a student cannot receive credit for both.
