About the Bachelor of Science in Anthropology

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology in the College of Liberal Arts is excited to offer the new Bachelor of Science in Anthropology. Additionally, the department offers the B.A. and minor in Anthropology. Students study human culture by taking a holistic approach throughout time and across the world and prioritize the natural sciences and applied aspects of the discipline.

By the end of the program, students:

  • demonstrate proficiency in anthropological inquiry and methods, including quantitative and laboratory methods
  • understand the applied uses biological, archaeological, and cultural theoretical frameworks
  • become prepared for professional work and advanced study in fields such as archaeology, forensics, bioanthropology, environmental or health sciences, public health, and user experience research.

To compare the B.A. and B.S. Anthropology degree programs:

  1. the B.A. degree requires a minor field of study;
  2. the B.S. degree requires more anthropology courses; and
  3. the B.S. degree includes more technical courses.
