Understanding the World Class Teaching Program

National Board Certifications is a complicated and expensive process. That’s where the World Class Teaching Program at Ole Miss comes in. We’re here to make your National Board Certification process as easy as possible. 

  • WCTP helps candidates advance through the National Board Certification process by offering two unique, candidate-support courses through Blackboard. 

Depending on where they live, teachers interested in National Board Certification can enroll in Mississippi’s World Class Teaching Program or the National World Class Teaching Program.

Mississippi’s World Class Teaching Program

Mississippi’s World Class Teaching Program offers face-to-face mentoring in select locations, online mentoring, and Bring in Home cohorts to Mississippi school districts far removed from any candidate support system. 

Here’s what you can expect with Mississippi’s World Class Teaching Program:

  • Cost. $100 enrollment fee includes an NBCT mentor, WCTP 601, Super Saturday, and webinars!
  • WCTP 601. A self-paced, step-by-step, Blackboard candidate support course including suggested timelines, assignments, and modules for each National Board Certification component. 
  • Continuing Education Units. Earn CEUs for attending mentoring and/or using WCTP 601. 
  • Mentors. All of our mentors are NBCTs, trained and assigned to their specific certificate area (when possible). 
  • Face-to-face meetings. Cohort groups meet in person twice a month in Tupelo, Oxford, Southaven, and Grenada. 
  • Fully online. Candidates work their way through WCTP 601 modules and assignments at their own pace and can meeting via ZOOM each month. 

The Mississippi World Class Teaching program is available only to Mississippi teachers. 

National World Class Teaching Program

The National World Class Teaching Program offers an independent, step-by-step Blackboard candidate support course, WCTP 602, that helps teachers learn how to self-assess and leads them through understanding the steps in the certification journey. 

Here’s what you can expect with the National World Class Teaching Program:

  • Cost. $135 annual, nonrefundable fee. 
  • Online resources. Resources include relevant forms, tools for self assessment, a video library, and so much more.
  • Fully online. Candidates work their way through WCTP 602 modules and assignments at their own pace and can meet via ZOOM each month. 

The cost to the National World Class Teach program is an annual, nonrefundable fee. Enrollment is for a one cycle year and ends August 1st each year unless a candidate joins anytime after March 1st, these candidates will remain in the course until the following August.

  • If candidates would like to continue with the National World Class Teaching program they must reapply each year just as they do with the National Board. 
  • This course isn’t open to Mississippi teachers.
