About Lenoir Dining

Come enjoy a meal at Lenoir Dining, a full-service, non-profit restaurant located in historic Lenoir Hall on Sorority Row. We offer a cozy 40-seat dining experience where every dish is prepared fresh and served by students in the Department of Nutrition and Hospitality Management.

Dine With Us

Lenoir Dining isn’t just a great place to eat. It’s also a place where students learn the ins and outs of running a restaurant. Throughout the semester, they rotate through every role, from cooking in the kitchen to managing operations and providing table service.

Our Menu

The menu changes weekly at Lenoir Dining in an effort to expose our students to new food ideas and concepts as well as to allow them to express their creativity through food.

Each meal consists of:

• A choice of drink (coffee, tea, water, etc)
• Freshly made bread-of-the-day served with spread
• Soup or Salad
• Entrée and accompanying side items
• Dessert

How to Dine at Lenoir

We are open to all UM students, faculty, staff, and community members on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Confirmations will be made the day of your reservation.

Payment is taken in the form of cash and credit card (MasterCard or Visa), or Interdepartmental Sale (checks, Flex, nor Express will be accepted).

Why Dine at Lenoir?

Guests play an important part in the experience. Each table includes a quick feedback card so you can share your thoughts and help students continue to grow their skills and confidence in the food service industry.

Who Works at Lenoir?

Lenoir Dining is entirely run by students enrolled in NHM 462/472, Quantity Food Production and Service (with lab). The course covers principles and fundamentals of quantity food production and service in commercial and institutional operations including:

  • Menu planning
  • Recipe standardization
  • Human resource utilization
  • Food safety
  • Culinary skills
  • Hazard analysis of critical control points, and
  • Costing
