Discovery Circles
Discovery Circles are interdisciplinary gatherings where scholars can connect, exchange ideas, and develop new research leads.

Find your future collaborators
Discovery Circles support motivated UM scholars interested in Interdisciplinary Research (IDR) by creating opportunities to form new connections, identify potential funding sources, and collaborate across fields.
What is a Discovery Circle?
Discovery Circles can take many forms—whether in-person or virtual, one-time events or ongoing groups. These gatherings might include interactive sessions, elevator pitch events, speed networking, receptions, symposia, lunch or coffee series, Microsoft Teams channels, or ProQuest PIVOT groups. Social interaction can play a central or supporting role, tailored to the goals of each event.
What Support is Provided?
ORED Research Development (RD) can assist with event logistics, including planning, scheduling, promotion, participant registration, refreshments, and follow-up as needed.
How to Participate
Discovery Circles require no long-term commitment or formal membership. Simply watch for announcements about Discovery Circle events in UM Today and join the activities that interest you. You may also request ORED RD support to organize similar events. Participants may be invited to provide feedback to help improve programming and measure impact.
To request Discovery Circle support, submit an application. Questions? Contact Jason Hale in ORED, or email resdev@olemiss.edu.
