Fills a Critical Regional Gap

Unlike many national programs that are dispersed and narrowly focused, the NCTR takes a comprehensive approach by integrating research across multiple disciplines, emphasizing applied solutions for performance, injury prevention, and resilience, and serving both military and first responder populations. As the first center of its kind in Mississippi and one of few in the nation, it offers a truly unique cross-sector model.

Direct Relevance to Mississippi’s Workforce & Infrastructure

With its major military installations, strong National Guard and Reserve presence, and thousands of first responders, Mississippi faces growing challenges in recruitment, retention, and readiness. The NCTR would address these needs by delivering data-driven, locally tailored solutions such as customized training, injury prevention, readiness assessments, performance monitoring, and enhanced mental health and resilience support.
