    SJNM 3620: Strategic Sport Communication

    This course is required and is an introduction to the field of strategic sport communication, including sport information, public relations, media production, research, interactive media, media trends, production competencies, and employment opportunities and trends. Topics include historical and theoretical features of the field, personal and organizational processes, sport media, services and support systems, and sociological aspects of sport communication.  

    SJNM 3660: Sports Writing

    This course is required for the minor and focuses on developing students’ sports journalism skills, including interviewing, reporting, revising and writing. Students will also learn best practices for using social media in sports media. Prerequisites: SJNM 1020 or SJNM 2005, and 24 earned credit hours.

    SJNM 3740: Sports Photography

    This course focuses on the technical and aesthetic elements of visual storytelling in athletics. Students will learn to produce effective visual images, edit images and sound using computer software, and format presentations for print and online platforms. Prerequisites: SJNM 2700 and 24 earned credit hours.
