Shaping the Future of Medical Cannabis
At the National Center for Cannabis Research and Education, we envision a future where healthcare providers, policymakers and the public are empowered with clear, unbiased knowledge of cannabis’ health effects. Our purpose is to advance the scientific understanding of cannabis through rigorous, evidence-based research, in order to improve health outcomes, ensure product safety, and shape clinical practices and policy.
Established in 2022 as part of the University of Mississippi’s School of Pharmacy, NCCRE was created to lead research, education, and policy development, building on over 50 years of cannabis research. As the only federally licensed cannabis grower in the United States for decades, the university has played a pivotal role in the discovery of cannabinoids and the development of cannabis-based treatments.
The Mississippi Medical Cannabis Research Program, established through Senate Bill 2888, supports our work in advancing medical cannabis research and education.
Advancing Education in Evidence-Based Cannabis and Supplement Science
The University of Mississippi now offers an Online M.S. In Dietary Supplements and Medical Cannabis, a graduate program designed to prepare professionals for research, regulation, and innovation in these rapidly evolving fields. The program reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to education and evidence-based discovery in medical cannabis and supplement science.
