Health Insurance

Per University policy, all international students are required to have health insurance.

Coverage

All international students – with the exception of those classified in the University system as U.S. permanent residents, Asylum, DACA or H-1 status holders – will be enrolled in UnitedHealthcare, which is the insurance program made available through the University.

Early Enrollment

The Fall semester coverage start date is August 15th, which falls after Arrival Day. Students arriving in the U.S. on Arrival Day (or earlier) should consider paying the daily rate to have their coverage start at an earlier date. The daily rate for insurance is approximately $7 per student. Students who choose not to pay for early coverage will be responsible for covering the full cost of any clinic or hospital visits they might make between their arrival and when insurance coverage begins on August 15th.

We recommend students consider paying for early coverage since you cannot control the circumstances surrounding getting hurt or sick. A visit to a clinic or hospital can be very costly without insurance, so please consider whether you would like to pay for early coverage.

How to Get Early Coverage

If you would like to have your health insurance coverage start before August 15th, please let our office know.
