Be part of improving lives in Mississippi and around the world

The University of Mississippi is an R1 Research institution, hosting world-class faculty and teaching students in a vibrant intellectual environment. The Office for Research and Economic Development (ORED) plays a pivotal role in maintaining and growing the number and quality of these activities. The events listed below promote and showcase the real-world impact of research at UM, and ORED encourages you be an active part of this community.

ORED Announcements and Deadlines

If you are planning to submit an NSF CAREER proposal this summer, please let ORED know by submitting a SPAN form as soon as possible and no later than April 30. ORED Strategic Research Development will offer NSF CAREER Overview information sessions on the following dates:

  • April 17 In Person (noon) in Duff 122 – Brown Bag
  • April 24 In Person (11am) in Duff 122 – Lunch Served
  • April 27 Zoom (2pm)

Each session will provide a short overview of NSF CAREER program, outline services available to this year’s cohort of applicants, and explain how to sign up for some or all of these services, including an NSF CAREER RED Writing Group Spring Sprint mornings during May Intersession. Register for one of the April information sessions using the Training Workshops App under the Employee tab's Tools & Resources of the myOleMiss portal. Or simply email resdev@olemiss.edu and ask us to sign you up. Save the date for the 2026 Field Fest!

Saturday, October 10, 2026
Football: Ole Miss @ Vanderbilt

This is a family friendly event, held at the University Field Station. You can register to run the 5K trail run or just cheer on the runners as they finish. Kids are welcome to participate in their own 1mi fun run. All runners receive a t-shirt and awards are given in multiple categories. Then stay for a fun morning of science activities, food trucks, and live music.
