About the Minor in Naval Science

Offered through the Naval ROTC program in the College of Liberal Arts, the Naval Science minor develops officers in the United States Navy and Marine Corp. Students are not required to be part of the NROTC program to enroll in the Naval Science minor.

Students learn about the history, missions, and capabilities of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps including the concept of seapower, history of the Navy, shipboard navigation, concepts of warfare, and ship systems. Courses are instructed by active duty officers who offer invaluable insight into the inner workings of the Naval Sciences.

Students gain valuable skills in leadership, writing and briefing, problem solving, team-building, conflict management, responsibility, and authority.
